Meet Our Friesians

We'd like to introduce you to our very special Ster Friesians, Sahara, Finneblom, Thijs, and Rommelus.

Finneblom

Finneblom V. fan 'e Tsjonger is a 22 year old 2nd Premie Star mare by the Approved Stallion Piter 312. Her mother is Peakseblom, a Star + Preferent + Prestatie. She is a very important mare to the Friesian breed and is listed in the Friesian Mare Book. Finneblom has successfully competed at ZZ levels in Europe. She is our newest addition to the family and we are very excited to have her. She is our Jellybean...or our Stinkerbell depending on the day.

 

Sahara

Sahara was the foundation of Black Silk Friesians and our first Friesian. She is now the Queen of Walker Ranch and has new parents, but we will love her and am grateful to her forever. She is an 11 year old 2nd Premie Ster mare by Folkert 353, imported from Holland in 2006. Folkert is a 3x World Champion Stallion and one of the most highly awarded Friesians in the world. He is well-known in the Netherlands for his animated performances and was always an exciting part of any Stallion demonstration. Sadly Folkert passed away recently, and Sahara will carry his name and bring those wonderful traits to her offspring. She is making tremendous progress in dressage now working First Level exercises very nicely. She is a very fancy mover, eager to learn, and has a fantastic career in front of her. She has also had 4 foals--a Keuring Champion colt, Valor, a 2nd Premie filly by Tietse, a third filly by Monte 378 in 2009, and in 2014 gave us baby Thijs by Bene 476. Sahara stole the hearts of her new parents and LOVES her new home.

Thijs

Baby Thijs was bred by Black Silk Friesians and is a 2014 baby. He is a gorgeous, smart, sweet 2014 colt by Bene 476. We are crazy about him and his new mom will have many years of joy with him, he has the best mom and lives in a horse paradise. He is growing and learning fast, and will be a very tall athletic stallion. He is expected to be about 16.3, and is showing all the potential we had hoped for. Photo credit: Brook Todd

Orion

Orion is our newest addition to our family. He is a gorgeous 11 year old gelding by Ids 300. He is absolutely brilliant, smart, playful, and we ADORE him. He is our dream horse....perfect in every way. Look for us in 2018 at events and demonstrations. He is a lovely example of the breed with his extraordinary looks, temperament, intelligence, and eagerness to learn. We are so happy to have him, he is truly a treasure.

Rommelus

Rommelus was our special love, we had him until he was 22 years old, we lost him in September 2015. He was a 1st Premie Ster (Star Stallion first) Gelding imported from Europe in 2003 by Lute 304. Rommelus had traveled all over Europe and ridden Prix St. George, many high visibility shows in the US at 3rd Level, exhibitions and parades, and was also trick trained to bow, kneel, sit, and do the Spanish Walk. He loved to do his tricks for spectators and anytime there is any possible hope of a treat. He was an absolute prince, a character to work with, and a once in a lifetime horse. Rommelus was often used in training videos and demonstrations (when he wasn't asking for treats.) He was truly one of a kind and gave us an experience of a lifetime--we are grateful for every second we had with him. To say I am heartbroken to lose him is an understatement.....he will forever be unmatched. I am unable to express the massive joy he gave us, the love and smiles he always gave us, and loss he represents. We love you Mister...
